Gorge Waterway Initiative

2013 05 09 GWI_logoThe Gorge Waterway Initiative (GWI) is a collaborative, community-driven group of organizations concerned with protecting and enhancing the natural and cultural features of the Gorge Waterway, Portage Inlet and the surrounding watersheds.

Members include local government, non-governmental organization, advocacy groups, community groups and others. Within the Gorge Waterway, Portage Inlet and their watersheds, GWI and partners provide a forum for the exchange and sharing of information, conduct community education and outreach and pursue a common approach to environmental management. The mission of the GWI is to protect, enhance and restore the health of the Gorge Waterway, Portage Inlet, their watersheds and communities, for the enjoyment and well-being of present and future generations.
